Terms of Use

LogicByte Studios · Last updated

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a contract between you and LogicByte Studios (“we”, “us”). They apply when you visit mineshire.com, create or use a Mineshire account, or use an online feature of the Mineshire app, such as the list of your servers, friends, sharing a server, remote control and update checks (together, the “Services”).

The licence for the desktop app itself is in the End User License Agreement, and our handling of personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy. If you use the Services you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.

1. Who may use the Services

The Services are for people aged 13 and over. Younger than 18? Then a parent or guardian has to agree to these Terms for you, and they answer for how you use the Services.

If you use the Services for an organisation, you confirm that you may bind it, and “you” then means that organisation.

2. Your account

You can use the Mineshire app without an account. An account is created the first time you sign in with GitHub or Discord. We never ask for a password, and we do not see the password of either service. You can connect both services to one account.

You are responsible for the sign-in services you use and for what happens under your account. Keep your accounts with those services secure, tell us at once if you think someone else has got into your account, and don’t share your access with other people.

  • Give accurate details. Usernames use 3 to 20 lowercase letters, numbers or underscores, display names stop at 40 characters, and a Minecraft name takes 3 to 16 letters, numbers or underscores.
  • Don’t take a name that poses as another person or project, and keep it free of anything offensive or unlawful.
  • You may keep one account for yourself. Don’t create accounts to get around a suspension or a limit.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Services to:

  • break the law or infringe someone’s rights;
  • attack, probe, overload or gain unauthorised access to the Services, to another person’s account, or to another person’s computer or server;
  • collect data from the Services by automated means, or reach them in any way other than through the app and the website;
  • send spam, harass other people or send them unwanted requests;
  • upload or display anything unlawful, abusive or deceptive, or anything that contains malware;
  • reverse engineer or interfere with the way the Services work, except to the extent that the law allows.

4. Friends and sharing a server

You can add friends and share a server of yours with a friend. Who gets access, and what they may do with it, is up to you. Every share has its own permissions. Let a friend turn the server on and off, use its console, manage players, work with its files and settings, or manage its plugins and mods, in any mix you like.

If a friend misuses the access you gave them, that’s on you too, so share only with people you trust and keep the permissions as narrow as you can. You can end a share at any time, and access stops when you do.

A shared server’s name and basic details are visible to the friend it is shared with, and recent console lines are passed to them while they have its console open. Each share keeps a log of invitations, answers and commands, and both you and your friend can read it.

5. Remote control from the website

Remote control lets you start, stop and use the console of your servers from the website. It is off until you turn it on in the app’s Settings, and you can turn it off again whenever you like. While it is on, anyone who can sign in to your account can use it, so protect your account accordingly.

6. What you provide

You keep the rights in what you provide to the Services, such as your usernames, server names and pictures. You allow us to store, copy and show that content to the extent needed to run the Services for you and the people you chose to share it with. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies that remain in backups for a limited time.

You are responsible for what you provide. We may remove content, or restrict access to it, if it breaks these Terms or the law.

7. Downloads

We make the installer and updates available from mineshire.com and from our release pages. They are governed by the End User License Agreement. Only download the Software from the places we point to, and keep in mind that a copy from anywhere else may be altered.

8. Other services and links

The Services work together with other people’s services, such as GitHub, Discord, Google Drive, Modrinth, CurseForge, playit.gg and Mojang. Those services are not ours. Their terms and privacy policies apply to what you do on them, and we are not responsible for them or for the content they offer. Our website may also link to other sites we don’t control.

9. Alpha status and availability

Mineshire is in alpha. The Services may change, be interrupted or stop working, and we may add, change or remove features. We do not promise a particular level of availability. Keep copies of what matters to you, for example your worlds and settings, which stay on your computer in any case.

10. Suspension, ending and deleting your account

We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if what you do puts other people or the Services at risk, or if the law requires it. We’ll explain why whenever we can.

You can stop using the Services whenever you like, and you can delete your account in the dashboard on mineshire.com. That removes your profile, your computers and server list, your friendships, and your shares along with their logs. What we keep, and for how long, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

11. Our rights

The website, the Services and everything in them, including their design, text, code and artwork, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. The names Mineshire and LogicByte Studios and our logos are ours. These Terms give you no right to use them, except to refer to the Services accurately.

12. Disclaimer and limit on liability

Within the limits the law sets, the Services are offered “as is” and “as available”. They carry no warranties of any kind, and we can’t promise they will run without interruption, without errors or without a security flaw.

Nothing here reduces our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law won’t let us limit. Your consumer rights are untouched wherever a contract can’t take them away.

Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for lost data, profit, revenue, goodwill or business, or for indirect or consequential loss, if it comes from using the Services. Our total liability to you for everything connected with the Services is capped at what you paid for them, which is nothing while they’re free.

13. Changes to the Terms

These Terms will change now and then, whenever a new feature needs new wording or the law moves. The date at the top tells you when that last happened. Each new version goes on mineshire.com, and material changes are noted in the changelog. Keep using the Services after a change takes effect and you’re accepting the new version; if you don’t agree with it, stop using them.

14. Governing law and courts

The law of England and Wales applies to these Terms and to every dispute or claim that comes out of them or relates to them, including claims that aren’t about the contract itself. Only the courts of England and Wales may hear them. If you’re a consumer, you can also go to the courts of the country where you live, and that country’s mandatory consumer protections still apply to you.

15. General

Together with the End User License Agreement and the Privacy Policy, these Terms are everything we’ve agreed about the Services. If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a right the moment it arises doesn’t mean we’ve given it up. Your rights under these Terms can’t be transferred; ours can, as part of a business transfer. Nobody outside this contract can enforce them.

16. Contact
